Vampires
I think I have been infected with some strange vampiric-virus. For the past few weeks I’ve had the same few symptoms: hardly sleeping, and when I do, only sleeping when it is light, as if the sun will turn me into stone. Also my apatite skyrockets and I spend most time awake eating. I become especially ravenous at night, and wonder zombie fashion to whatever I can feast upon.
My roommate seems to have been plagued by this nocturnal transition as well. Granted both of us work late into the night, but that doesn’t explain why when I come down in the morning/afternoon I find half of the fridge contents consumed. It also doesn’t explain why we can no longer keep garlic in the house. Perhaps it’s something in the water, or maybe it’s that small bit mark on my neck…
Whatever is causing it, I set it in my mind to fight it head on. My “stake in the heart” comes in the form of joining a gym. I figure that if I am eating this much, I better at least burn some of it off. Plus working out is also supposed to give you energy. It’s the first time I’ve ever belonged to a gym and just carrying around my member card I already feel healthier. As added incentive I’ve decided to run the Humber Bridge half-marathon this summer. It’s going to take a lot to train for the 13K run, but I figure it’s got to be good for me.
Now I just have to chisel of these fangs….

Hi Brandon
Good to see that your eating well. It is a virtuous circle: the more you train the more you burn, the more you eat. Soon you’re into muscles you’ve never seen before and then you look in the mirror and you recognise - yes, it’s Zuperman.
I’m doing a bit of heavy exercise myself in training for the Marie Curie Cancer Care -Hornsea Rotary Club’s third of a marathon (8.7 miles) on Sunday, 30th March. Do you want to join me as my guest? Info from angus.robinson@virgin.net

Thanks Ian, but it’s not so much that I’m eating well, just eating a lot!
An 8.7 Mile run sounds tough but I may give it a go. Even if I have to crawl the last few miles….

My running partner is not able to participate in the (above mentioned) Hornsea run. I have been running with him for over two and a half years on a daily basis and he is much fitter than I am, going out in front to encourage me to run faster and he arrives home without the breathlessness that overtakes me. So I’m delighted Brandon, that you have agreed to run with me in the event. Don’t over-train otherwise you will be crawling the last few miles; nice and easy does it, plus plenty of food and sleep!
